biography
Alana Landrum is a mixed-media artist based in Suffolk, Virginia. Born in 2004 in Oakland, California, her artistic foundation was shaped by the cultural and visual landscape of her hometown, where she began her career. She trained with Civic Design Studio in arts fabrication and education while studying at Berkeley City College and College of Alameda, where she developed her practice of “story catching.”
Landrum pursues identity in flux, often contradictory and ever-evolving. She builds worlds and characters to catch fragments of her lived experience, providing the separation required for moments to be loved, released, or reimagined. She is drawn to what it means to live between multiple versions of the self, and finds serenity in representing tension and harmony through the ominous, absurd, and beautiful.
